More of MY Story...

01/30/11:
I am a get to the point, straight at you kind of guy.  I am not one to prance around the point no matter whatever that point may be.  Please keep this in mind.  Yesterday I had the honor of picking up a guest speaker at the Austin airport named Father Bill Beers.  He looked the priestly part in demeanor but the good news was he was a regular guy and not one of those pompous-acting priests or preachers that I have had the displeasure of meeting in the past who acted like they and they alone had a private line to God.  Of course he was cool... He was Episcopalian.  That was a joke but unfortunately it was a TRUE JOKE too.
I told him about my favorite priests (Father's Buck and Cooper) and if the ride had've been a little longer I probably would've added Fathers Calloway, Miller and that last guy... What was his name?  He is a Bishop in Washington state now.  You know names are always good to remember but I love remembering the spirits.  Father Beers has a good spirit too and I instantly felt comfortable enough around him to open up as if we were continuing a conversation we had perhaps had interrupted at some earlier point in time.  It was just like that and I liked him.
Father Beers asked me was I coming to church tomorrow (today) and I told him that I am tired of church.  I went on to explain what exactly I meant.  I am ONE tired of all teh demons who don't care about anyone and are there to NOT speak, NOT smile and NOT care about other people that are less fortunate or not in their clicque and TWO I am tired of the chanting and failures to properly detail whatever the message is for teh day, the week, the month, the year as well as the life we are supposed to live.
The first problem is something that is so daunting that only time and good example can heal however the second one can be fixed immediately but won't be.  That would mean somebody would not preach an hour and twenty minutes and would instead have to work at least two hours or more.  That would mean somebody would miss the Cowboy's kickoffs.  That's a BIG no-no so the explanations for the Gospel will just have to not be important enough.  Personally I doubt half the people that go to MY church understand the sermons or the promises that are repeated every service regardless of the language.  I could be wrong... I wish I were.
The problem is, all you have to do is look at the people that give The Peace and notice that some of them, three in specific, skip over the same people every week and do not offer them The Peace of God.  What's UP with that?  Then one or two of these skippers are passing out BREAD or holding chalices with the symbolized BLOOD of Christ to the same people they just refused to offer or accept God's Peace.  I am NOT the only person who notices this but I will bet I am one of the rare ones who is not afraid to write about it.  What good will it do?  Can't be any worse than it is.
I am the kind of person that likes to FIX things.  People at my church don't think anything is wrong.  They are content to listen to gospels they don't understand and chant the same words over and over about how they love/fear the Lord yet still they help no one they don't know.  Is this what being a Christian is supposed to be about?
